Construction Sector Sees Improvement After 18 Months
For the first time in six quarters the UK construction industry has seen as increase in output. In the last three months of 2012 the construction sector grew, halting the decline which began in the third quarter of 2011.
In the final quarter of last year, official data has revealed that the construction industry grew by 0.9%. This figure is greater than predicted with the ONS only expecting an increase of 0.3%.
Private housing offered the biggest contribution to the output in the fourth quarter closely followed by infrastructure and repair and maintenance. Although these figures aren’t huge it’s definitely an improvement and if it continues as expected things could well be looking up for the construction industry.
